Surgery

Surgery, radiation and chemotherapy still constitute the main weapons of attack against cancer. An approach which comes in for some critism from doctors and aalternative practicioners alike. Surgical treatments of cancer involve amputation of the malignant growth, a procedure which is frequently valuable, not only because because it allows time for the bodys immune system to immobilise its defenses but because it can frequently remove a life threatening condition. Critism of this method of treatment is that it allows oxygen to get to the tumor and may contribute to a more rapid growth and spread throughout the system. Furthermore, surgery constitutes a stress factor to humans and can sap the bodies vitality and strength, particularly the dynamism of the bodys immune system whioch is involved in the control and destruction of cancerous cells. However, surgery can be successful in treating some forms of cancer and is most commendable of the three treatments, though informed medical advice is necessary to evaluate its suitability in individual circumstances. What is certain, however, is that surgery does not pay any consideration whatsoever to the actual cause of the patients cancer.
