Fasting

This requires abstention from food in order to liberate the body's own healing powers. This particular healing force is often used in nature-cure clinics with outstanding success but it ought to be attempted under medical supervision only. It would not be advisable to attempt to fast at home surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the modern world, though short periods on fruit alone would be quite safe. I have personally witnessed many examples of the miraculous healing powers of fasting and I would like to mention one in particular. The case involves a young man of 24 years named Julian who was suffering from the debilitating consequences of ulcerative-colitis. He weighed approximately 6.5 stones (90lbs), his back was bent in a severe stoop and he could walk only in a painful shuffle. He was pitifully unwell and his face was gaunt and etched with pain. He had been under medical supervision for six years without any success, indeed he had deteriorated steadily over this period. For the first month of his treatment at Tyringham Naturopathic Clinic, England, Julian was fed purely on fruit and vegetable juice in order that the body's self healing mechanism be released and to initiate the necessary detoxification from the medicines he had been using. During this period he studied the philosophy of nature-cure and slowly came to learn that his health was in his own hands and that his own body could heal itself. I can only say that when Julian left the clinic he was a different person from the one who had arrived. His stoop had gone, he bounced jauntily around and wore a huge smile. Nobody healed Julian, he had healed himself. His body had contained the power to heal the disease. Furthermore, Julian had understood the power of nature and his destiny was now in his own hands.
