Cigarettes and Cancer
Another major cause of cancer is the self inflicted use of tobacco. Lung cancer now causes 35% of cancer deaths in men. In 1978 the death toll from lung cancer amongst both sexes reached 100,000 in America the majority being cigarette smokers. Moreover, cigarette smokers run an increased risk of developing other forms of cancer, not to mention an increased risk of dying from heart disease. It has been estimated that each cigarette shortens the lifespan by 10 minutes.
